2003 Concert Information

Carl Schroeder, 21, is a student of music composition at St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota and a graduate of Minneapolis Southwest High School. He is the composer of Christine's Lullaby -- an elegy for orchestra dedicated to Christine Lee Hanson, the youngest victim of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.

Jocelyn Hagen (b. 1980) grew up in Valley City, ND, and began playing the piano and composing at a young age. She enrolled at St. Olaf College after high school and graduated with distinction in May of 2003 with two Bachelor of Music Degrees: Vocal Music Education and Theory and Composition. She wrote Ashes of Roses during the year of 2002 for her senior composition recital. Although not dedicated to the memory of the victims of September 11, this requiem mass is honors all who have died recently because of the state of the world today.

In addition, Minnesota Pipes & Drums will be participating in the concert, performing their version of Amazing Grace. The Minnesota Pipes and Drums is a committed, competition and performance pipe and drum corps established in 1963.
